1 ) Penang Times Square

Penang Times SquareA mixed development project comprising a mall, residential tower and office block, Penang Times Square certainly has a central location along Jalan Dato Keramat, about one km away from KOMTAR. Spread across its three floors is clothing boutiques, nail parlours, tech stores, a museum and beauty salons, plus a few restaurants. Fashion-wise, expect to find local brands such as MTM Boutique, Asadi Concept Store and shoe chain, Opera. Penang PlazaOne of Penang’s oldest shopping centres, Penang Plaza has a suburban mall neighbourhood feel, attracting a lot of local residents who come to visit for its big chain stores such as Giant supermarket and Guardian pharmacy. 3) Island Plaza

Island PlazaIsland Plaza’s best boast is that it is the closest mall to Batu Ferringhi. Department store, Metrojaya, and supermarket, Cold Storage, act as its anchor tenants and you will find housed under its roof a mixture of local boutiques and some international brands such as Quiksilver, CK Jeans, MNG, Nike and Body Glove. KomtarKOMTAR is an icon in Penang, frequently serving as an easily identifiable landmark for travellers exploring Georgetown. Housed under its roof are a collection of atmospheric local boutiques, best for bargain-hunting fashionistas, and lots of electronics stores where shoppers can have their phones, computers, tablets and more fixed. The 65-storey high rise on the junction between Jalan Penang and Jalan Magazine, is also notable for its viewing deck on the 58th floor which offers great views of the island.

1st-avenue1st across the road from Penang Times Square, KOMTAR and Prangin Mall on Jalan Magazine, the seven storey 1st Avenue Mall holds a variety of well known brand such as H&M, Victoria’s Secret, Cotton On, Coach and Sketchers. However, it’s great not just for its stores, but also because it offers quite a bit in the way of onsite entertainment. 10) Gurney Paragon

DSC05101Set along Persiaran Gurney, the seafront nine-storey Gurney Paragon Mall is home to an eclectic mix of fashion trends. Its collection of 40 high fashion stores are concentrated on the first and second levels, while the best of its 30 restaurants can be found primarily at its al fresco frontage. What makes it unique is the fact that the entire place has been built around St. Joseph’s Novitiate, a 1925 chapel that has been beautifully restored and incorporated into the mall’s open-plan layout design.
