Perhentian Island, or Pulau Perhentian as the locals call it, is well known as a marine paradise and forms a part of the National Marine Park of Malaysia.

Take a jungle trek up the hills under a canopy of large trees, and you might see wild magpies, giant fruit bats or the Nicobar pigeon. The nearest jungle trail is just a hundred metres from the Resort.

If you come between June and late August, you might even see giant green turtles laying eggs along the beach, at about a 20 minutes boat ride.

Open air, nice atmosphere, good selection of drinks to go with the BBQ serving, these are just some of the points to describe our Beach Front Cafe. It is sparsely decorated to enable a full view of the beach, especially gorgeous during sunset.

Jungle Trekking
Perhentian Besar Island is a more laid back than Perhentian Kecil Island, and is still covered with a lush and relatively untouched virgin rainforest.

This jungle trail starts from behind Perhentian Island Resort leading towards a waterfall at Teluk Dalam on the other side of the island.

Matted with dense vegetation, the jungle is home to nature's most complex and diverse ecosystems. � Plant species such as climbing vines and palms can be seen in a dazzling forms and functions, draped together to form a vibrant and interconnected habitat.

The trip to the jungle requires the full use of one’s sense to discover all the creatures of the forest. Look out for wildlife such as several rare fruit bat species, a number of forest birds (such as Nicobar pigeon, sunbirds, shamas and warblers), the dusky langur monkey, and the flying lemur.

Location
Perhentian Island Resort is situated on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, between Kelantan and Terengganu. The Resort is built on a 9.947 hectare site facing the South China Sea.

The main gateway to the islands is via Kuala Besut Jetty. Journey time from Kuala Besut Jetty to "Long Beach" takes approximately 25-30mins.

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport, take a flight to Kota Bharu by Malaysian Airlines or AirAsia.

Take a cab from Kota Bharu or with our appointed land transfer agent to our Kuala Besut Jetty Office or Tok Bali Jetty. There are travel agents and taxi ticket counters at the Kota Bharu Airport's arrival hall.
