2010-01-13 12:25:06   bobbyluv2001   As it was the holiday season In Dec, my partner and I planned for a holiday where our objectives was to stay mostly indoors (hotel) and probably visit 1 or 2 tourist spots in the Island. Dec is also Malaysia’s school holiday- noisy children everywhere. After much sought out to find a hotel, we ended up with Langkawi Lagoon Resort along Jalan Kuala Muda. Firstly, well.. a not so good to hear comments: I should have thought that a ‘Kuala’ refers to a riverbank where it meets the ocean and indeed that was the sight one sees eventually near the hotel’s beach. This, I guess they cannot mention on their website? So, you can imagine how clean or clear the water is. However, the hotel seem to have done a not too bad of a job at keeping their beach clean! Not to mention, I took a picture of a monitor lizard strolling down the beach among some rocks near the Hotel’s Sea Villas. Hence, I for one avoided going into the waters! Next, BREAKFAST! If you like same old same old then this is probably a place to stay every day! I have not been to a hotel {perhaps not yet) where their breakfast menu is repeated every morning! A little change there was, was probably the cordial fruit juices (cordials?! Come on!!} And the way they arrange their dish pots/basins at their counters. There are usually 2 main dishes - Nasi lemak with its usual condiments and the English breakfast. (Hash browns, baked beans, etc). What saved me from mourning more was the idea of stalls that served fried eggs and another with ‘Roti Canai” or “ Roti Jala’ with some curries. The other thing is the hotel’s gym can make a major make over. A hotel which claims to be 5 star should provide a 5 star standards amenities. This goes for the Saunas/Steam room as well! Please expand their sizes and bring in more equipment and place a staff all time. I had to find for someone to provide me the towels for the steam room. The main hotel can do better paint coat, It looked like a sad version of Disneyland with odd colors on each blocks. The only nice rooms were the Sea Villas (nevertheless that goes with a price) But for a 5 star standard in overall rooms? 3 star for Sea View and Garden View rooms. Have a fresh one-color coat please? Now for the good things briefly: 1. Rooms are spacious and has 5 star standards.(except for the tube like TVs!) 2. Staffs are extremely friendly and courteous and helpful. 3. Location is near enough from airport and other busy/happening spots and ATMs (Pantai Cenang) 4. Pool service was great, though I swallowed some dead insects and dead leaves along the way! Perhaps need to reorganize the plants. All in all, apart from the good ones this hotel can be indeed a 5 star with corrections made to the negatives I mentioned above. Thanks for having us! Date of stay: 2009 Dec

2007-05-17 21:58:01   Sue Sukeri   Recommended if you have the cash to spare and want a really really relaxing holiday.... Rooms are tastefully decorated with good amenities. Foodwise - so so only, nothing to shout about. Staying here was like holidaying in a foreign country, you are unlikely to meet many local people. would love to come back and stay in the sea villas. 2005-02-19 06:30:56   Tazeem Lotia   We stayed at the hotel in December 2004. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. However, we felt that the staff, though polite and courteous, were ill-trained and not very efficient. Service at the restaurant was very slow, even though the place was not terribly crowded. We were approached by several staff members to book tours through their "friend" who would give us a good discount, rather than booking through the hotel concierge. The hotel is removed from the main town, which meant taking a taxi if we wanted to eat or shop elsewhere. Although ranked as a 5-star hotel, I would probably rate it a 3-4 star. Would I stay there again? Probably not. Date of stay: 2004 Dec

2005-02-02 16:47:12   JA   Call up to book a room. After 5 mins of holding the line was cutoff. Second time they just pick up the phone and hang it up. That already tells you the hotel. This happened at 4pm in the afternoon. Date of stay: 2005 Jan

2005-01-21 17:12:04   burke   Moved to this hotel out of the langkasuka resort ,what a differance,clean, safe, brite and the staff are wonderful would recoremnd this hotel to anybody. Date of stay: Dec

2004-08-23 17:48:43   Down   Call up to check for package price but no one can answer and transfer call to another, then transfer to anothr again ....... after transfer for about 5 times put me to listen music for about 5 min. and just put down my phone. Congratulation to the management that they having such a VERY-VERY good attitude group of staff.
