 | gbech5 | | The room is ok for the price you pay. It was RM90/night/room for an air-cond room (2 twin beds) with attached HOT shower (yes, the hot shower was working at Chalet #8). To be honest, I chose it because of the reasonable price.
Unfortunately, there were BED BUGS on both beds. My husband & I were bitten very badly & we were itching all over for 1.5 weeks after our stay. (Having no experience with bed bugs, we thought they were mosquitoes' bites on our 1st night).
The air-cond was working (although it took a while to cool the room down). Besides the bed bugs, I've no complaints but to the management of Ekoton (or Aki Chalet) as it is called now, pls don't forget to do pest control & change out old contaminated mattresses!
The rest of the reviewers have commented on its location so I won't say more.
Overall, beware of bed bugs....!

| khaitheng | | The staff were friendly, and the meal also ok. Just that hot shower & toilet flush need to be repaired. Anyway, we really enjoy the trip in Taman Negara.

| Ramli Awang | | The chalet is ok. Nice place to stay. But the path from the floating restaurant where we took our meal (the package inclusive of the meal) to the chalet need to be repaired. The path gave a bad impression to the Ekoton Chalet. Please let them know about this. The wooden staircase needs repair.

| MR BALINT | | The trip was absolutely good, I have lots of nice memories, but most of them are just standard touristy stuff, not of interest to other people. However, I really enjoyed the trip and I was treated nicely. Thank you.

| syazleen | | The village of Kuala Tahan, directly across the river from park headquarters, is much cheaper than the resort in terms of accommodation and food. Although it's a rather unprepossessing spot, scruffy and strewn with litter, it's perfectly acceptable as a place to spend the night. Crossing the river is easy; sampans go on demand throughout the day and evening and cost RM1. Fifty metres to the right from the top of the steps, Ekoton Chalets is a good mid-range choice, with clean air-con chalets for RM90 (unfortunately there are no nets on the windows - bring your own mosquito coils). It also has a rather unappealing 17-bed dorm with beds for RM13, and a five-bed dorm with beds for RM20. If you're after hostel accommodation, I recommend the other places in town.

| sandytan | | We booked and paid for 2 twin-sharing chalets but upon arrival were given 1 chalet and 1 air-con hostel. The chalet was okay but there was sand on my bedsheet in the hostel and no hot shower. We also had to ask the reception for toilet paper (for chalet and hostel) and blankets (for hostel). But I am not complaining - it's a small matter. The reception was very friendly and responded promptly to our requests. We were also given the option of moving to a chalet on the 2nd day but we did not take it up. Apparently my friend in the chalet did not sleep well on both nights because of the noise from the adjacent road. But I believe she's more sensitive to noise than the average person. There was also a short power failure during our stay. Anyway, we survived and truly enjoyed the trip and one another's company.

| | 2005-06-27 12:18:25 | laymank | | Same problem here. We extended 1 night stay to enjoy the nature and to relax in our air-conditioned chalet. But there was a power failure from noon till on our extended day until we left and still not recovered! Worse still is, the water supply was also disrupted. Imagine staying in the jungle, with hot and steaming sun noon and mosquitoes filled night with no water supply, no electricity, no lighting around the chalet, sticky and sweaty body, encircled by possibly snakes invading environment, etc.
I'm not sure if it is not within the arrangement, but we have no blankets all throughout the stay, the bathroom door lock was spoiled, reported to the person in charge, promised to fix the next day but didn't at all.
Also, if a small simple table can be added to the adequate quad sharing chalet room will be more than fine.

| Marina | | Same opinion with Mak, Ekoton should have its own power generator, as the majority neighboring resorts have. | | |
